Fuck motivation.
It’s a fickle and unreliable little state that isn’t worth your time.
Better to cultivate discipline than to rely on motivation.Force yourself to do things, to get out of bed, to go the gym, to work harder and smarter; force yourself to do stuff when you don’t feel like doing anything.
Motivation is fleeting, and it’s easy to rely on because it requires no concentrated effort to get. Motivation comes to you, you don’t even have to chase after it.
Discipline is reliable; motivation is momentary.
The real question isn’t how to keep yourself motivated, it’s how to train yourself to work without it.
I think when I first started losing weight I got so use to losing weight every week that when it stopped happening I freaked out. Now I have learnt that it’s okay and it’s healthy to not be losing weight week in week out and I think more people need to know that.
Maintenance is 100% good.
Exactly people need to be taught this.
Whoa. I think this is what totally made me think my eating disorder wasn’t a problem… I lost weight to get healthy, but once I was healthy, I still felt like I needed to lose more. It felt natural to keep going. But it wasn’t, and it isn’t. That’s how I got down to 80 lbs. Whoa. Tiny mindblown
Can I just say, I saw this back on my dash and I saw a couple of notes that was just like ‘tell me how to lose weight every week’ and had messages asking how I did it, it’s like nobody got the point of this post. The comment above this is literally the point of this post.
- Wake up and open your curtains. Your windows too.
- Drink some tea or coffee, whatever pleases you. Notice every sip.
- Have some fresh fruit and finish breakfast feeling full.
- Stand outside and feel the air. Cool or warm, it will make you feel real.
- Get some exercise. Yoga to soothe, running to breathe, lifting for strength.
- Take care of your body. Have a nice shower and pamper as much as you want afterward.
- If you’re going to work, remember you have the chance to make anyone’s day or to ruin it. Act accordingly.
- Weed out the bad language. It’s only creating tension in your body and mind. Kind words are infinitely more appreciated.
- Take some time each day to improve your mind. Keep reading that great book. Listen to an incredible piece of music. Practice an instrument or a skill. The progress is its own reward.
- Pictures will help you remember how wonderful life is. But spend less time on your phone and more time seeing the world face to face.
- Go to sleep knowing that you have done well. Tomorrow is there with room to become even better.
-Notes to myself on how to become a better person this summer.
You messed up your diet and didn’t exercise today - so what? You didn’t ruin anything. Get back on track tomorrow.
If you have one flat tire, do you slash the other three? Of course not.

Wow I really needed to see this. Sometimes it’s hard to remember that one bad day won’t result in negative results; just like one good day won’t result in positive results. It’s all about consistency.
